Workplace Safety Requirements NFPA 70E

Who Should Attend?

This course is an accident-avoiding prescription for electricians, safety managers, and inspectors, and engineers dealing with electricity any voltage level. Presenting crucial protective safety strategies for industrial and commercial systems, this course references NFPA 70E safety codes where appropriate, perfect for a company’s electrical safety training and reference needs.

Course Description:

This course is based on teaching vital electrical safety measures that are needed in and out of the field. Students will cover personal protective equipment requirements, potential electrical hazards, and the standards that must be met to prevent harmful situations.

Learning Objectives:

  • How this standard addresses electrical safety requirements for employee workplaces that are necessary for the practical safeguarding of employees in their pursuit of gainful employment (Article 90 - Introduction )
  • Student will learn the numerous definitions essential to the proper application of this standard. What definitions are intended to apply to uses throughout this standard. What definitions are applicable to installations and operations at over 600 volts, nominal. (Article 100 – Definitions)
  • Student will learn what the General Requirements for Electrical Safety Related Work Practices are. Including: Safe Work Practices. More than one employer maybe responsible for hazardous conditions on site. Outside Personnel (Contractors, etc.)On-site employer and contractor communicate existing hazards, PPE requirements. (Article 110)
  • Students will learn how to Establish an Electrically Safe Work Condition using LOTO, Personnel protective grounding. (Article 120)
  • Students will learn about working On or Near Live Parts. Shock Hazard Analysis, Shock Protection Boundaries, Approach to Exposed Live Parts Operating at 50V+. Approach by Unqualified Person, Working At or Close to the Limited Approach Boundary. Entering the Limited Approach Boundary. (Article 130)

Prerequisites:

Basic AC and DC electrical knowledge.
